Extra Hammock Safety

Bowline & Dowel

Bowline & Dowel

Your Lounger Hammock can be secured in many ways. Our prefered method is rope tied with bowline knots and a 4" piece of wooden dowel.

Check your knots and dowels to make sure that they are in good shape and tied tightly and placed securely. If you are unsure how to tie these knots please ask for help.

Make sure that no yarns are twisted in any way after storage and handeling of your hammock. If the hammock yarns are not placed correctly it will caus strain on the hammock which can cause yarns to break making your hammock unsafe.

All of our Lounger Hammocks come with hanging hardware, please check out Hanging Guide for help with safely installing your hammock.

Gravity & S-Hooks

Gravity & S-Hooks

Our Lounger Hammocks come with two s-hooks in the Hanging Kit as an alternative way to hang your hammock without a wooden dowel.

When using the s-hook make sure that the hammock set up like the photo. Make sure that your s-hook is not upside down and the weight of your hammock is not secured.

Always check how your hammock is hanging when left unattended before using it again.

We recommend that you replace your s-hooks every few years as the elements can slowly wear away at the metal.

Half Hitch Knots

Half Hitch Knots

Your Thick Hangout Chair is secured by two tight half-hitches on either side of the spreader bar before it is safe to sit in.

Check your knots each time you use your hammock to insure nothing has come loose so that you can happily enjoy your hammock.

Securing your Thick Hangout Chair

Securing your Thick Hangout Chair

The Thick Hangout Chair is secured to the wooden spreader bar by half hitches. Pleasure ensure that these knots must be tied for safe use of your hammock.

Periodically check these knots after prolonged use of your hammock and they may loosen with time and daily use of your hammock.

Many other factors affect safety: types of materials; age, size, and condition of the hammocks and rope; and the accuracy with which knots have been tied. No responsibilty is accepted for incidents arising from the use of our hammocks. Please enjoy them responsiblity and safely.

UV Damage & Broken Yarn

UV Damage & Broken Yarn

Many of our hammocks us Nylon, Cotton or Polyester yarns which make our hammocks great for indoor and outdoor use depending on the type of hammocks.

Our most popular hammock, the Hangout Chair, uses a nylon yarn. Nylon is fantastic for its moisture resistnace and quick drying but UV light can be harmful to these yarns over time since they are made of plastic. The yarn will become brittle over time and no longer as strong.

We recommend you bring your hammock indoors when not using it for a longer life.

If you notice that your hammock feels crispy or stiff from being left outdoors this may be a sign of UV damage and it is recommended that you no longer sit in your hammock.

Sharp Objects & Cut Yarn

Sharp Objects & Cut Yarn

All of our hammocks are hand-made with either a natural or synthetic yarns which need to be cared for properly. There are many factors that can affect the strength and integrity of a hammock.

Before sitting in your hammock make sure that you have no yarns that are cut or broken. These can happen if sharp objects are, intentionally or unitentionally, in or near your hammock.

Some hammocks have metal parts that increase their weight capacity, but due to either enviroment, age or care they care ware down over time. If you notice any metal pieces cutting any yarn of your hammock, cease to use it immediately.

You may need a new hammock or parts of a hammock to continue safely enjoying your view.

Bowline Knot

Bowline Knot

All of our hammock rope is pre-tied with bowline knots. This is a versatile, strong knot and will hold you in your hammock as long as it is secured correctly.

Please ensure that all knots are tied correctly when using your hammock.
